The NASS recognized Interventional Musculoskeletal (MSK) and Spine Medicine Fellowship at The University of Kansas offers advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal and spine disorders. Based at the state-of-the-art Marc A. Asher Spine Center, fellows train alongside physiatrists, anesthesiologists, orthopedists, and neurosurgeons in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting.

During this one-year ISMM fellowship, participants gain extensive hands-on experience, with graduates performing more than 2,000 fluoroscopic procedures and over 100 ultrasound-guided procedures. Additional opportunities are available in sports coverage, intrathecal pump management, and neuromodulation techniques, complemented by a continuity clinic that builds long-term patient care skills.

Academic development is an integral part of the program. Fellows engage in weekly didactics, journal clubs, and a structured research curriculum, with the expectation of scholarly publication by year’s end. Serving as both fellow and clinical instructor, participants enjoy faculty-level benefits while also contributing to resident and medical student education.

The KU MSK Spine Medicine Fellowship prepares physicians for leadership in interventional spine and musculoskeletal rehabilitation, blending high-volume procedural training, research, and academic mentorship in one of the nation’s premier health systems.
