We are a vibrant, energetic and growing academic department at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.

Vision

  • To maximize functional independence and quality of life for communities in the Heartland region through innovation in groundbreaking research, advanced education, and outstanding clinical rehabilitation.

Mission

  • Serve as the premiere destination program in the region to restore function, decrease pain, and improve quality of life in patients living with musculoskeletal and neurologic conditions.
  • Integrate our clinical mission with award-winning and nationally recognized research and educational programs.
  • Increase visibility, awareness, and advocacy for the specialty of PM&R across the continuum of care.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialists (“physiatrists”) often evaluate and manage patients with joint or back pain, spasticity, sports injuries, stroke, traumatic brain injury and amputations. Often, we utilize medications, therapies, and cutting edge non-surgical interventions such as pain procedures or joint injections. If you are a prospective patient please call to learn more about our service or to set up an appointment with one of our physicians.
