Professional Background

I was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. I obtained my Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, in 2016. I worked as a clinical pharmacist in Nigeria before deciding to pursue a PhD. I joined the IGPBS at KUMC in 2019 and joined Dr. Jaeschke’s lab in May 2020.

Research Interests

Overdose of acetaminophen, a commonly used analgesic, can cause acute liver injury and is the leading cause of acute liver failure in the US. The currently approved pharmacotherapy, N-acetylcysteine, is less effective with delayed administration after the overdose. As a result, there is a need for the development of newer, more effective treatments. My research focuses on elucidating the pathways and mechanisms involved in liver injury and recovery following acetaminophen overdose. The aim of this is to uncover novel pathways which can be exploited to develop new strategies for treating liver injury following acetaminophen overdose.
