Academic medicine aims to improve health outcomes by bridging the gap between clinical practice and scientific discovery. It fosters a collaborative environment where clinicians, researchers, and educators work together to advance medical knowledge and improve patient care. 

In the department of pediatrics at KUMC, we pursue academic medicine along a pathway that includes promotion and even tenure (for some) to recognize that this is a lifelong pursuit.
