We believe exposure to and experience in presenting research is a crucial part of residency training, which is why we offer several opportunities.

American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting
Stipend provided by the program to attend once during residency.

American Academy of Ophthalmology Mid-Year Forum 
Stipend provided by  Kansas Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons for PGY-3 residents to attend.

Kansas City Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery Course (biennial with next in 2024) 

Kansas EyeCon
Each spring, the department organizes a regional conference that features nationally known guest speakers and highlights the residents presenting their original research projects.

Regional conference that all faculty and residents attend. PGY-3 residents present cases in a Grand Rounds format.

Kansas Refractive Course - Taught by certified instructor and proctor, Kenneth Goins, MD, seniors become laser-certified during residency.
