Career Plan: As a budding ophthalmologist, I am steadily gaining clarity regarding my career vision. All puns aside, I find engaging in patient education, clinical research and academic teaching to be quite rewarding. Early interests are currently in glaucoma, cornea and global ophthalmology. I am fortunate to have had an array of terrific educators over the years and aspire to pay forward their dedicated efforts.
Hobbies/interests: Byzantine chant, French horn, domestic & international outreach service, marathon running, golf & quality time with my wonderful family.


Sara Krachmalnick, M.D.

Career Plan: Pediatric ophthalmology or comprehensive (or other).  I also hope to participate in global ophthalmology in the future.

Hobbies/interests: Workout classes, reading, podcasts, needlepoint, and interior design.


Jordan Jensen, M.D.

Medical School: Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, LA
Career Plan: Private practice in rural mountain west. Interested in various "side hustles," including medical device invention and operating a culinary mushroom farm.
Hobbies/interests: Playing bluegrass music with spouse, adventuring with their kids, brewing homemade ginger beer and woodworking.

Career Plan: Pursue a fellowship in a field where I can do the most good, work with underserved communities, both locally and internationally, and be the best surgeon I can possibly be.

Career Plan: Likely comprehensive ophthalmology, but will consider all subspecialities with an open mind throughout residency
Hobbies/Interests: Golf, drums, travel, spending time with friends and family


Anna Sharabura, M.D.

Career Plan: Undecided at this time.  Ideally, I would love a role that involves teaching and mentorship. 

Hobbies/Interests: I enjoy spending time with family, exploring new places, cooking, knitting, and researching new topics.  I have plans to self-publish a book in the coming years.

Robert Boyle, M.D.

Career Plan: Undecided on subspecialty. Very interested in global Ophthalmology and mentoring future generations
Hobbies/interests: Coffee, KU, and KC sports, spending time my family.


Kais Karowadia, M.D.

Career Plan: Interested in pediatric ophthalmology and/or oculoplastics but subject to change! Want an emphasis on working with underserved populations and teaching/mentoring future physicians.
Hobbies/interests: Basketball, volleyball, online gaming, movies, viola, and Houston Sports!


Kevin Makhoul, M.D.

Career Plan: I want to specialize but I am currently undecided on which fellowship. I would like a role where I can mentor trainees and be impactful in my community and beyond with access to new research and technology. Some of my interests include medical history and global health.
Hobbies/interests: I enjoy visiting new places, eating good food, photography, soccer, gaming, podcasts, reading, and attending music events.


Aaron Veenis, M.D.

Undergrad: Oklahoma State University

Career Plan: Undecided on subspecialty vs comprehensive practice but aim to emphasize increasing access to ophthalmic care for Kansans.
Hobbies/Interests: Spending time with family and friends, recreational league basketball, wood working, travel, and cheering on OSU sports and the Kansas City Chiefs.
