The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Kansas is located at 7400 State Line Road in Prairie Village, Kansas. This facility is located about four miles south of the main campus and was selected to provide better patient access for the growing parts of Johnson County. For the convenience of our patients, this building has a covered drop-off entrance and ample close-by parking.

The updated facility is 17,000 sq ft with 25 examining lanes and sufficient academic spaces to support our nine residents, 9 full-time permanent and 5 part-time faculty, as well as our current staff. In April 2014, we expanded to the upper level where we have additional clinical space, our Refractive/LASIK Suite and ambulatory surgery center. Here, we provide comprehensive outpatient care across the spectrum of ophthalmology.

Most surgeries are performed at the University of Kansas Hospital Specialty Surgery Center, formerly known as the KU Eye Surgery and Laser Center, on State Line Road. Other locations include the University of Kansas Hospital in the Same-Day Unit or at the KUMed West Ambulatory Surgery Center.
