Learn more about our resident research opportunities.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Kansas Medical Center has established a strong residency research program spanning all four years of residency. Research opportunities are broad and occur across the spectrum of medicine. Residents may pursue research and other scholarly activities in clinical medicine, basic science/laboratory, public health, and quality improvement.
We are committed to fostering high-quality research experiences for all of our residents as part of their training. We provide residents with a wide range of supports and opportunities including:
-Quarterly research meetings to clarify research goals and mentorship plans
-Annual intern research retreat to identify areas of interest and provide early research support
-Annual Resident Research Day where residents present their study designs and results in a supportive, collaborative environment
-Statistical, coordinator and scientific writer support for study execution, analysis and dissemination
-Financial support for attending meetings both nationally and internationally
-Formal statistics curriculum to provide support for research efforts and ongoing education
-Bi-monthly journal club to develop critical thinking and analysis skills
We enjoy supporting our residents as they develop their research skills and are fortunate to have robust research collaborations with many of our basic science colleagues. Whether residents are interested in basic science research, translational research, clinical research, educational research or another area we are proud to offer robust mentorship and support for each resident to succeed in the space that brings them joy and meaning.
