Visiting Resident

Interested in learning more about the day-to-day operations of our Maternal-Fetal Medicine division? Thinking about applying for a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship? A visiting rotation may be for you.

The University of Kansas Medical Center welcomes and offers Visiting Residents (VR) an elective rotation in Maternal-Fetal Medicine for a period of four weeks.  Participation in this rotation will allow the learner to be exposed to a broad array of MFM patient experiences, research opportunities and didactics which will serve to broaden their knowledge in this specialty.

An application will need to be completed along with letters of recommendation from the residency program director and from an MFM faculty member affiliated with the VR’s program and can be found below.  Once that information is received and approved, the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship will notify the applicant and our local GME.  Once approved, the applicant must submit the required paperwork via The University of Kansas School of Medicine’s MedHub portal at least ninety (90) days in advance of the rotation start date. Final approval is at the discretion of the department/division.  Here you will find an outline of the onboarding/approval process.  This elective MFM rotation will be available for approved applicants for a 4-week period, anytime from December 1st through May 31st

The University of Kansas Medical Center accepts VRs who are in an Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited residency in the United States. However, the Department of Ob/Gyn and the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine are unable to sponsor residents that are on visas.
