Research

Our fellows' research experiences are diverse and flexible, ranging from laboratory to informatics to population health services.  The focus of research training at the the discretion fo the fellow.

Fellows in the maternal fetal medicine fellowship program at the University of Kansas have the opportunity to conduct research.  We work closely with The Intitute for Reprouction and Perinatal Research, Dr. Michael Soares, and Dr. Soumen Paul.

Current Areas of Focus:

Kelly Gorman, MD - PGY-7

In Dr. Michael Soares lab Dr. Gorman is examining Adrenomedullin (Adm) iexpression and biology at the uterine-placental interface in the rat model.  To demonstration Adm is integral to placentation and fetal development; deficiency of Adm results in structural and functional placental changes which result in early growth restriction and fetal death. Adrenomedullin expression varies in amount and location throughout gestation.

Olha Krichevskiy, MD - PGY-6

In Dr. Michael Soares lab Dr. Krichevskiy is investgating the impact of Invasive trophoblast cells and natural killer (NK) cell disruptions on placental and fetal development and maternal adaptations to pregnancy.

Juliana Bakk, MD - PGY-5
