Application Process for the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship

Application & Interview Process

Applications for the University of Kansas Gynecologic Oncology program will be accepted through ERAS.  The next interview season opens on November 17, 2021.  Application deadlines will be posted as soon as the information is available from SGO. 

Interviews will be conducted virutally via Zoom.  Interview dates are June 10, 202, July 22, 202, and August 5, 2022.  The interview day will be 8:00 am - 12:30 pm CST.

Eligibility for Fellowship

Prerequisites: Medical Degree, Completion of OB/GYN Residency, anticipated

All applications through ERAS Fellowship must include:

ERAS Common Application Form. Describe your activities with professional societies, publications, and any other relevant information about your education or experience. Any information you would put on your curriculum vitae should be included.

  • Personal statement of professional goals
  • Official transcripts. Official transcripts from each medical school you attended. Provide certified or notarized English translations of documents written in a language other than English
  • Official test transcripts for all applicable examinations (USMLE, LMCC, COMLEX, NBOME, FMGEMS, FLEX, or NBME)
  • CREOG Scores - Once you have submitted your ERAS application, please forward your CREOG Scores to nturner@kumc.edu
  • Valid ECFMG certificate is required if you graduated from a medical school outside the United States or Canada
  • Four letters of recommendation that should be uploaded to ERAS
    • o Two from physicians or faculty members who are thoroughly familiar with your work (one of which must be from the Obstetrics and Gynecology Gynecologic Oncology Department/Division). Letter from Gyn Onc faculty or Division Director should be on the standardized letter of recommendation form. 
    • one from your Residency Program Director
    • one from your Obstetrics and Gynecology Department Chair

Applicants are reviewed based on academic record, professional background, personal qualities, recommendations, and interviews. The rank list is reviewed in a meeting that includes faculty who interviewed prior to submission to the NRMP.

The University of Kansas Medical Center is located at 3901 Rainbow Boulevard in Kansas City, KS. The Kansas City International Airport (MCI) is located north of the metropolitan area a 20-25 minute car ride. The Amtrak station is located downtown Kansas City, MO a 10-15 minute car ride. Their are several hotels within a 1-5 mile radius of campus.

Interviews

Invitations are extended via ERAS with the ability to self-schedule and waitlist. Candidates selected for interviews will have an opportunity to meet with faculty, fellows and Cancer Center staff on their interview day.

2022 interview dates are pending.

Interviews will be conducted via video. As invitations are extended we will notify you at that time which video communication we will be using.
