Laith Maali honored by American Academy of Neurology for excellence in teaching
Each year, the American Academy of Neurology celebrates outstanding educators nationwide with the A.B. Baker Teacher Recognition Award.
Laith Maali, M.D., associate professor in the Department of Neurology, earned recognition from the American Academy of Neurology for his outstanding contributions to neurological teaching.
Maali is one of several neurology educators across the United States recognized with the A. B. Baker Teacher Recognition Award for 2025. Maali and his fellow recipients will be formally recognized at the American Academy of Neurology’s 2026 annual meeting this April.
A faculty member since 2017, Maali is no stranger to being recognized for his role as an educator: He also received the Best Educator Award during KU Neurology’s annual graduation celebration last June.
“Teaching has always been central to my identity since joining KU, and receiving this recognition reaffirms my values of mentorship and my dedication to educating future neurologists,” Maali said. “I’m grateful to my enthusiastic learners, who continually inspire me to be a better educator.”
