Christelle Haddad, M.D., is Grand Rounds speaker on April 5, 2024

Her presentation focuses on one of the rarest diseases, stiff person syndrome

Christelle Haddad, M.D., is the featured speaker during the Department of Neurology Grand Rounds on Friday, April 5, 2024. Haddad earned her M.D. in general medicine from Lebanese American University and completed her residency in neurology at American University of Beirut. She is a fellow in neuromuscular medicine at KU Medical Center.

On Friday, she will discuss stiff person syndrome (SPS) disorders, epidemiology, clinical presentation, variants, pathophysiology, diagnostic criteria, antibodies associated with the condition, treatment and prognostic factors. About one in every million people have SPS. Canadian pop singer Celine Dion was diagnosed with SPS in 2022.

The presentation is 8 to 9 a.m. at the Clendening Auditorium in Robinson at the KU Medical Center, 3901 Rainbow Blvd., Kansas City, Kansas.
