Gary Gronseth, M.D., receives Frank A. Rubino Award for Excellence in Clinical Neurology Teaching
Gronseth will receive this award of outstanding teaching in clinical neurology from the American Academy of Neurology this spring.

Gary Gronseth, M.D., professor and department chair of the Department of Neurology at the University of Kansas Medical Center, is the recipient of the 2025 Frank A. Rubino Award for Excellence in Clinical Neurology Teaching.
The award, presented by the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and named in memory of Frank A. Rubino, M.D., recognizes exceptional clinical neurology educators who have distinguished themselves through the practice of clinical neurology, patient care and the teaching of clinical neurology.
“Dr. Gronseth is not only a master diagnostician, but also an exceptional communicator and educator,” Deetra Ford, M.D., said of Gronseth in her nomination letter. “He is deeply engaged in medical education and has inspired countless future neurologists through his expertise and passion for the field.”
The award comes with a $500 cash prize, funded by the Mayo Clinic Frank A. Rubino, MD Development Fund. Gronseth will be presented with the award at the AAN’s annual meeting this spring.
