The future of health begins with YOU

What is the All of Us Research Program?
All of Us is a national effort from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that aims to register one million or more people in the United States to build one of the largest health information resources in history.
The more we know about what makes people unique, the more customized health care can become. That’s why we’re asking one million people to join us. Researchers will use participants’ health information to learn how different factors, like lifestyle, environment, and genes, work together to impact our health.
What is KU Medical Center’s role?
KU Medical Center is proud to bring All of Us to the Midwest. As the coordinating site for the All of Us Research Program – Heartland Consortium, we are partnering with The University of Kansas Health System, University of Iowa Health Care and the University of Nebraska Medical Center. We know our goals are ambitious, but we believe that when we come together, we can do incredible things, which is why we hope you will join in our efforts.

- Sign the “Authorization To Share My EHRs for Health Research.”
- Answer health surveys called “The Basics,” “Lifestyle,” and “Overall Health.”
- Give a blood and urine sample in person, or mail a saliva sample from home.*
- Provide physical measurements like your height and weight.*
*Participants will receive $25 after completing an in-person visit to provide samples and physical measurements. Participants who do not complete an in-person visit will not receive $25
Who will have access to my answers?
All of Us protects survey responses the same way we protect other information you share with us. Your answers will be added to the Data Browser in the All of Us Research Hub. Researchers can use the data for many different studies. Before we add your answers, All of Us removes any information that can identify you. This means that your name, date of birth, address, and other identifying information are not available to researchers.
We Keep Your Data Safe
The All of Us Research Program follows strict privacy and security protocols and processes to help keep participant data safe. Your privacy is very important and we will take great care to protect it if you join. To learn more about how All of Us protects participant data and privacy, visit our website: https://allofus.nih.gov/protecting-data-and-privacy.
The All of Us Research Program is working to enroll one million or more people. By sharing their health information with us, All of Us participants are helping us build one of the largest biomedical datasets ever. It combines biological factors, genomics, and social determinants on a large, inclusive scale, capturing a wide variety of data types.
The All of Us dataset is stored on the Researcher Workbench, a secure, cloud-based platform. The program offers tiered access to the data. Researchers’ institutions must first have agreements in place with All of Us before they can register to use the Researcher Workbench’s.
Researchers can access All of Us participant data. Those researchers may work for universities, medical centers, or nonprofits. Everyone who uses All of Us data for research has to follow the same rules. They must agree to protect the privacy of participants. We require researchers to describe their research projects and how they will use the data on www.researchallofus.org and www.allofus.nih.gov. We share descriptions of all research underway.
Register for access at ResearchAllofUs.org.
