Dr. Spikes leads the Pulmonary Hypertension, COVID/Post-COVID, and Sepsis Clinical Research Unit, and has extensive experience in conducting Pharmaceutical, NIH, and Investigator-Initiated Trials.

Dr. Mario Castro, M.D., MPH
Division Chief of Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Vice Chair for Clinical and Translational Research, Director of the Rainbow Clinical and Translational Science Unit (CTSU, Frontiers)

Dr. Castro leads the Airway and Asthma Translational Research Unit (AATRU), which currently has >25 studies, all of which have opportunities for students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty to perform focused research in an area of interest.

Translational Research

Dr. Navneet Dhillon, Ph.D.
Division Director of Pulmonary Research, Professor of Medicine

Dr. Dhillon is an internal leader in studying disorders of the pulmonary circulatory system with an emphasis in cellular and molecular pathogenesis of HIV infection-induced pulmonary hypertension. Dr. Dhillon has been very successful in securing extramural funding from the NIH and the American Heart Association.
