Patient Care and Screening
Our multidisciplinary division strives to develop approaches to patient care, precision medicine, targeted treatments, prevention strategies and research that are informed by genomics.
Working alongside colleagues at The University of Kansas Cancer Center and The University of Kansas Health System, we aim to improve outcomes for patients through a variety of objectives.
Transform patient care through precision medicine
We aim to significantly improve patient outcomes by using genomic testing for risk stratification and to customize disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
Integrate genetic testing and counseling:
Using precise, genetics-based insights, we seek to enhance care for patients across medical disciplines with point-of-care testing supported by a comprehensive genetic lab utilization program.
Establish an adult clinical genetics service
We want to ensure that adults facing complex health issues stemming from genetic predispositions receive integrated, genome-informed health care solutions. In support of that objective, we seek to establish comprehensive evaluation and management services.
Looking for Genetic Counseling and Testing Information?
The University of Kansas Cancer Center, the region's only National Cancer Insitute-designated comprehensive cancer center, offers genetic counseling services to help people understand their risks. Genetic testing is also available for a variety of hereditary cancers and cancer syndromes, such as breast cancer, Lynch syndrome and Li-Fraumeni syndrome.
