Lav Patel, BS, MS, is a Team Lead - Biomedical Software Engineer in medical informatics at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Patel works on Healthcare Enterprise Repository for Ontological Narration (HERON) ETL which pulls EMR data and other data and converts to I2B2 format. Patel also works on Accrual to Clinical Trials - Shared Health Research Information Network (ACT-SHRINE) which allows KU Medical Center users to run a query against more than 50 Institutions' I2B2 data, which is funded by NIH. Patel also has integrated Greater Plains Collaborative EMR (GROUSE) data with Medicaid and Medicare data with patient count more than 11 million. Patel is also interested in machine learning and AI. He has been working with Dr. Liu and Dr. Song to develop a new algorithm that helps to predict Acute Kidney Injury (AKI). Patel is also contributing member of Consortium for Clinical Characterization of COVID-19 by EHR (4CE) which works with 342 Hospitals in 6 Countries with more than 34,000 COVID-19 patient data as of August 2020.
