I have been a member of the Weinman lab since Summer 2021 as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology division, Department of Internal Medicine. My main current project in the lab focuses on the hepatoprotective properties of Kupffer cells in the alcoholic liver disease. We are interested in understanding the mechanism of Kupffer cells subsets that restore the hepatocyte differentiation in a western diet alcohol fed mice model.

Originally from Queretaro Mexico, I joined the Weinman lab after graduating from the University of Kansas in Spring 2021. I work and assist in various projects in the lab. Currently, my main project focuses on expressing Cre recombinase in-vivo using nano-particles technology. With this, we will be able to modify and selectively target specific macrophage subsets in the liver. In addition, I manage the animal colony and perform animal procedures needed for the different experiments.

I am a gastroenterology fellow in the physician scientist training pathway at KU Medical Center where I also completed my internal medicine training. My project in the lab focuses on investigating transcriptomic landscape changes in Kupffer Cells during high fat diet and alcohol exposure. My previous investigations include leukocyte trafficking in murine models of Inflammatory Bowel Disease at UC San Diego.
