Electives

We prepare and train fellows to provide quality care to patients. These opportunities give our fellows exposure to different perspectives and approaches to allergy and immunology care.

In addition to our clinics here at KU Medical Center, fellows are able to rotate with Dr. Celina Bernabe at her private office for a slightly different perspective on allergy and immunology. We also have flexibility in electives so that fellows can spend time with our Otolaryngology, Dermatology, Pulmonary, and Rheumatology departments. They also have the opportunity to rotate through our pulmonary function lab and participate in occupational assessments with our pulmonary department.

We have incorporated a rotation in a clinical immunology lab (Eurofins-Viracor) that does many of our specialized lab evaluations where they gain experience in assays such as flow cytometry, IgE specific allergy, immunoglobulin and antibody quantification, complement activity, and cell-mediated immunity. Fellows are welcome to spend more time at this lab if they choose to do so.
