Positions:

The Department of Internal Medicine Olathe residency program offers 12 categorical residents annually.

Program Eligibility Requirements:

All appointments for residency are subject to the applicant’s ability to obtain an unrestricted Kansas medical license.

Eligibility includes current seniors or graduates from a medical school in the United States or Canada, accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or graduation from a college of osteopathic medicine in the United States, accredited by the American Osteopathic Association Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (AOACOCA); or, graduation from a medical school outside of the United States or Canada, and meeting one of the following additional qualifications:

1. holding a currently valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) prior to appointment
2. holding a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States licensing jurisdiction in which the ACGME-accredited program is located

Applicants requiring a J-1 visa will be considered during the application process. The J-1 visa is the only visa our program will consider. 

Application process:

You must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We do not accept applications or positions outside of the NRMP match. The application and all supporting documentation must be submitted by October 15. To ensure a holistic review of your ERAS file, please utilize one of your “signals.” Our program will ensure a full file review for all applicants who signal us. We will value all aspects of the ERAS application to ensure candidates will be a good fit for KU-Olathe. Program signals will not affect rank list decision making

• Medical School Transcripts
• Letters of Recommendation - at least 3
• Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE or "Dean's Letter")
• USMLE transcripts and/or COMLEX-USA transcripts

All appointments are made through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Applicants must register through the NRMP website.  Personal interviews are by invitation only and are based on a holistic file review of your entire ERAS application.

If selected for an interview, applicants will be notified by email. We are unable to provide applicants with a status report regarding their application or selection for interview. 

Interview Process:

We interview approximately 180 applicants for our 12 positions.
