Didactics and Conferences

Our department strives to provide a learning curriculum that promotes preparation and collaboration both inside and outside of the clinical environment. Review our didactics and teaching conferences schedules below.

While much of residency education is in the clinical environment, we strive to provide a well-rounded curriculum to better prepare residents for both the clinical environment and in preparation for boards. Our goal is to provide a core curriculum with an active learning environment, while efficiently utilizing the time of both our residents and faculty.

We have daily conferences over the noon hour, as well as longer educational sessions during the +1 week when residents have fewer patient care responsibilities outside of clinic. The topics of the curriculum are developed from review of the ABIM certifying exam blueprint, as well as specific learning objectives tested on the Internal Medicine In-Training Examination.

Conferences and Schedules
  • Grand Rounds: noon on Wednesdays, with all division faculty, fellows, residents and medical students.
  • Core Curriculum lecture series: noon on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Mandatory for all housestaff.

    • Podcasting of all conferences available, except Patient Safety Conferences and Housestaff Meetings.
    • Our conferences are based on the ABIM blueprint and organized by system.
  • Case Conferences: noon on weekdays, for program directors, faculty from all subspecialties, housestaff and medical students
