Ryan Brennan, M.D.
I am proudly rooted in Kansas City, where I grew up experiencing the charm of both its suburban and rural communities. This upbringing fostered a love for nature and small-town life, ultimately leading me to The Little Apple—Manhattan, Kansas—to study biology at Kansas State University. While there, I volunteered in the local emergency department and discovered my passion for caring for people in their moments of greatest need.
I went on to attend the University of Kansas School of Medicine for both medical school and internal medicine residency. As a resident at KU, I found the most fulfillment caring for patients at the bedside and managing conditions across the broad landscape of internal medicine. This experience inspired me to pursue a career as a general internal medicine hospitalist, dedicated to providing comprehensive, empathetic, patient-centered care and serving as a guide to patients during their hospitalization. Along the way, I also hope to serve as an educator and mentor to the next generation of physicians.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my amazing wife and daughter. Together, we enjoy exploring the outdoors, learning to grow food in our garden, and playing with our two cats, Daisy and Maggie.
Jacob Cushing, M.D.
I'm a Kansas City native and proud Jayhawk since medical school. I have a deep passion for medical education, with a particular commitment to fostering a safe and supportive learning environment for all learners. I'm excited for the opportunity to help our residents grow as physicians—just as my mentors have done for me.
While my professional pursuits drive me every day, my wife and two children are truly the heart of everything I do. When I'm not in the hospital or spending time with my family, you'll likely find me experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, gathered around the table with friends for an evening of board games, or taking my children to the zoo.
Salah Daghlas, M.D.
I was born and raised in Columbia, Missouri where I completed both an undergraduate degree in biochemistry and medical degree at the University of Missouri. I made the move across the border to join KU’s Internal Medicine residency program where I’ve proudly become a Jayhawk.
During my time at KU, I’ve been continually impressed by the supportive environment fostered by the program, the genuine collegiality among co-residents, and the diverse pathology we encounter at both KU and the Kansas City VA. I am grateful for the strong training I have received, which was balanced by an emphasis on resident wellness. I will say KU is a large hospital system, but it does not feel that way with how great and friendly everyone is!
As a chief resident, I’m passionate about medical education, and I am excited to work on our residents’ behalf. Outside of medicine, I love playing basketball at our recreational center, going on walks, and spending time cooking and barbecuing. After residency, I plan to pursue a fellowship in Rheumatology.
Bridgette Molenda, M.D.
I grew up in Overland Park, KS loving all things theater and science (stereotypical middle child behavior). My dad was an internal medicine primary care physician, which piqued my interest in medicine early in life. I went to Kansas State University for undergrad and studied biology with a minor in French. Along the way, I maintained a creative outlet by performing with the K-State improv team, which is how I met my husband! For medical school, we moved to Oklahoma where I went to the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa’s School of Community Medicine. While there, I developed my passion for primary care and academic medicine, learning to view a patient’s social factors as vital to their health. I returned to Kansas for residency, trading my Sooner white coat for a Jayhawk one (though I’ll always bleed purple). During my second year of residency, my husband and I welcomed our son, who has been the best and sweetest addition to our lives. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family, performing improv, and going on walks around the nearby park.

Will Webb, M.D., Ph.D.
Will earned his medical and doctoral degrees at the University of Alabama School of Medicine, where he studied the epigenetics of learning and memory. He currently serves as both an Internal Medicine Chief and as a Psychiatrist at KU Medical Center. His clinical and academic interests include clozapine use in schizophrenia, management of medical comorbidities in serious mental illness, and medical education. Outside of work, he enjoys gardening, electronic music, and reading about finance and philosophy.
