About the the Cardiovascular Research and Artificial Intelligence Center
Bringing together experts in cardiovascular medicine and computer science, the Cardiovascular Research and Artificial Intelligence Center (CRAIC) at KU Medical Center is an innovative, collaborative research program.
We pursue research and innovation in more precise interpretation of cardiovascular diagnostic data powered by artificial intelligence (AI). We aim to improve patient outcomes by using big-data analytics to facilitate precision medicine.
We reevaluate electrocardiograms (ECG) in individuals without established heart disease and in those with cardiac abnormalities, such as conduction diseases, arrhythmias and cardiac resynchronization therapy for heart failure. We are investing in a large database linking clinical ECGs to clinical outcomes, which we hope to leverage for training predictive AI algorithms.
Pursuing research in novel analytic methods and machine-learning techniques may help us improve diagnostic and predictive utility. Ultimately, we see applications for our research in clinical practice—to improve diagnostics, identify patient risk stratification and target appropriate therapeutics.
