Julio Tinoco

Professional Background

I am from the small town of Marshall, MO and graduated from Missouri Valley College with a B.S in Biology, along with a minor in Chemistry. During my time at Missouri Valley College, I surveyed water sources around the Missouri Area to determine mercury levels, contributing to ongoing environmental research.

During my junior year, I was fortunate enough to secure a summer rotation at Baylor College of Medicine, under mentorship from Dr. Melanie Samuel, Ph.D. My research during this time focused on the discovery of new neural developmental molecules and pathways.

I have since decided to pursue a Ph.D in Cancer Biology, as I am passionate about the unique opportunity to be a part of this interdisciplinary field.
