Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary research area that relies on computational and statistical methods to solve biological problems. With the advancement of high throughput technologies, biological experiments and genomic studies are now generating huge amount of raw data, ranging from genomic sequences to gene expression profiles and to whole genome sequencing of genomic and tumor DNA.

The KU Medical Center K-INBRE Bioinformatics Core, lead by Dr. Devin Koestler, Associate Director of Biostatistics and Informatics Shared Resource, provides expert and timely bioinformatics and statistical consulting for ‘omic based biological studies. The core offers services to investigators both within and outside KUMC on both grant-funded and chargeback-based projects for management and analysis of large-scale biological datasets produced by high-throughput genomics experiments, including managing, visualizing, analyzing, and interpreting ‘omic data produced from high-throughput platforms in both human and model organisms.
