We are inviting you to participate in this research study because you are a lean, healthy individual.
The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of the extent to which the blood vessels are affected by glucose and fat (lipids) in lean, healthy adults. This study involves a one-time administration of Vitamin C and measurements of its positive influence on the blood vessels, during a co-infusion of glucose or lipids. This study is not testing an experimental drug.
The REGAL research study is approximately 5 weeks long and involves:

  • 3 visits to our research lab at the KU Clinical Research Center, conveniently located 3.4 miles south of KU Medical Center's main hospital
  • Free reserved parking next to the front door of the KU Clinical Research Center
  • Monitoring of your heart rate, blood pressure, vascular health, and blood chemistries (this study does include I.V.s and blood draws)
  • Compensation for your participation is provided

We are inviting you to participate in this research study because you may be a hypertensive, pre-diabetic individual.

The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of the extent to which inflammation in the body is caused by elevated sympathetic nerve activity, which in nerve activity that is often elevated in conditions such as stress, high blood pressure, and weight gain. The results from this research study may provide important information about how we can lower inflammation and improve the function of the cardiovascular system in individuals that are overweight. This study is not testing an experimental drug.

The MAPLE research study is approximately 6 weeks long and involves:

  • 5 visits to our research lab at the KU Clinical Research Center, conveniently located 3.4 miles south of KU Medical Center's main hospital
  • Free reserved parking next to the front door of the KU Clinical Research Center
  • Monitoring of your heart rate, blood pressure, vascular health, and blood chemistries (this study does include a 4-week FDA-approved drug intervention)
  • Compensation for your participation is provided

We are inviting you to participate in this research study because you suffer from chronic pain.
The purpose of this study is to monitor symptoms of chronic pain before and after 2-weeks of a standard drug commonly used to treat elevated blood pressure and 2 weeks of a placebo drug, so that we may better understand how blood pressure affects your level of pain. This study is not testing an experimental drug.

This research PASSION study involves:

  • 7 Visits to KU Clinical Research Center (4350 Shawnee Mission Pkwy Fairway, KS 66205) with Free reserved parking
  • Online Questionnaires, monitoring of your blood pressure, vascular health, and blood chemistries (this study does include blood draws)
  • 2-weeks of a standard drug commonly used to treat elevated blood pressure and 2 weeks of a placebo drug
  • Compensation for your participation is provided
