Liver Transplant Fellowship

This year long non-accredited transplant fellowship program will provide broad exposure and experience to all facets of transplant anesthesia. The fellow/jr. faculty will participate in anesthetic management of orthotopic liver transplantation as well as other solid organ transplant including kidney and pancreas. The fellow will be involved along with transplant faculty with the weekly multidisciplinary liver selection committee. While at The University of Kansas Health System, the fellow will also participate in other challenging cases as a fellow and faculty member including major hepatobiliary procedures and a variety of anesthetics. The fellow will also have opportunities to pursue elective rotations in multiple other arenas of anesthetic management while gaining expected skills in TEE and Point of Care Ultrasound throughout the year.

The overall educational goal of the fellowship is to participate in perioperative management of liver transplant including but not limited to invasive lines, hemodynamic management, and management of coagulation. Fellows will be encouraged to participate in weekly multidisciplinary liver selection committee. Fellows will have the opportunity to also to participate in major hepatobiliary procedures, living and non-living kidney, and pancreas transplant. Elective rotations included but not limited to, transplant ICU, cardiac ICU, TEE, and research. Fellows will be expected to gain skills in transesophageal echocardiography and Point of Care Ultrasound.

Salary: Market Competitive Salary. The fellow will function 50% as a fellow and 50% as a junior faculty member.
