Professional Background

I received my Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Wichita State University. I explored several areas of engineering research as an undergraduate student, and this led me to Dassault Systèmes’s Living Heart Project. At DS, I worked with a multidisciplinary team to develop a flexible simulation model of a human heart that is capable of conforming to patient-specific geometry. This clinically relevant research inspired me to pursue the M.D./Ph.D. dual degree.

Following this experience, I transitioned to academic research and worked in multiple biomedical engineering labs until graduation. I then joined Dr. William Groutas’s organic chemistry lab at WSU, where I helped develop inhibitors for coronavirus 3CL-proteases to serve as drug candidates for SARS-CoV-2.

In 2024, I joined Dr. Doug Wright’s Sensory Nerve Disorder Lab to study the mechanisms underlying peripheral neuropathy.
