Professional Background

I have lived in the Kansas City area for all of my life. For college, I attended Creighton University in Omaha, NE where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a focus in Biochemistry. I have conducted research in two different labs during that time. The first, at Creighton, focuses on a type of non-coding RNA termed a "riboswitch" and their role in regulating particular metabolic pathways involved in polyamine synthesis. The second, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, investigates pancreatic cancer radioresistivity and other aspects of cancer biology. Both of these experiences heightened my interests in biomedical research and my desire to pursue an MD-PhD.

Outside of my research I have always been an avid Kansas City sports fan and have greatly enjoyed the success of both the Royals and Chiefs over the past few years. I look forward to watching them during the next few years while I am at KU Medical Center.
