Maggie Benson

Professional Background

Raised in the metro Atlanta area, I recently graduated from Georgia State University--located in Atlanta, GA--with a B.S. and M.S. in Neuroscience. Throughout my academic journey, I was mentored under my lab PI, Dr. Daniel N. Cox--Ph.D. in the Neuroscience Institute at GSU. There, I was introduced to the Drosophila model and its genetic advantages while investigating neural mechanisms and circuitry under various stimuli. Specifically, I focused my graduate work on modeling cold-induced peripheral neuropathy in D. melanogaster.
Currently, my research interests are broad and open to having some type of neuronal relevance. In my free time, I usually am on a travel excursion or outdoors to some capacity listening to music.
