Professional Background

I grew up in Topeka, KS, and completed my undergrad at the University of Kansas in chemical engineering. During this time, I worked as an undergraduate research assistant with Dr. Mark Shiflett in the Wonderful Institute for Sustainable Engineering and Dr. Adela Rambi Cardones in the KU School of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Dermatology. Under Dr. Shiflett, I studied the use of ionic liquids for the separation and recycle of refrigerant mixtures, completing an REU within the institute. In dermatology, I quantified the racial disparity in melanoma patient outcomes using the NIH SEER database as a KU Global Scholar.

I am entering my first year of the MSTP program with plans to pursue my Ph.D. in bioengineering. Outside of academics, I enjoy weightlifting, reading, and traveling.
