Professional Background

Cardiothoracic Surgeon, The Permananente Medical Group, Santa Clara CA, 2018 - Present

Residency: Integrated Cardiothoracic Surgical Program at Stanford University. 2012 - 2018

I was born in Rochester, New York and moved around quite a bit before my family settled in Idaho Falls, Idaho. I am the oldest of seven children and learned to love hard work and serving others. I went to Brigham Young University for my undergraduate education. During this time I found and married my soul mate, Jan. We then moved to Kansas where I completed my medical degree in 2012 at the top of my class as well as a PhD in stem cell biology. We were blessed to have two sons during our time in Kansas and I was fortunate to find the other passion of my life, cardiac surgery. I came to the Bay Area where I completed training in cardiac surgery at Stanford University.

During my time at Stanford, I was able to work at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara. I was truly impressed by the Kaiser Permanente system. It is a unique place where the "business" of medicine is focused on providing the best patient care possible in a true team approach. The physicians and staff are selected for their integrity, dedication, and unmatched clinical excellence and I am honored to have joined their ranks in 2018.

As a cardiac surgeon, I specialize in treating all surgical conditions involving the heart and large blood vessels in the chest. This includes diseases of the aorta, valve repair and replacement, coronary artery bypass, and arrhythmia correction. Along with our excellent heart team, I am committed to providing patients with the best care possible so that they return to enjoying the family, friends and lifestyle that make life worth living.
