clinscheid@kumc.eduProfessional Background
Residency: Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Kansas City Medical Center. June 2017 - Present.
I received my B.A. in psychology from Bethel College in May of 2008. My past research experience includes work at Mount Sinai Medical School New York, NY and Bethel College-North Newton, KS. At Mount Sinai, I studied HIV infection in Dr. Mary Klotman and Dr. Viviana Simon's labs. In Dr. Klotman's lab, I studied the importance of cervical epithelial and endothelial cells in the HIV infection of CD4+ T cells. In Dr. Simon's lab, I studied the relationship between defects in the APOBEC3 family of DNA editing enzymes, some of which have been shown to have anti-HIV activity, and the progression of HIV infection. At Bethel College, I worked in Dr. Paul Lewis' lab studying the importance of perspective in how medical professionals and patients understand and think about issues related to medication adherence.
