I received my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at the University of Kansas in 2004. My interest in medicine stems from as far back as I can remember while my passion for research began while working in Dr. Craig Lunte's lab on the pharmacokinetics of diphenhydramine (Benadryl). Currently, my research involves developing a morphological assay to be utilized in a high throughput screen for transcriptional regulators of the breast cancer susceptibility gene 1 (BRCA1). The MD/PhD program has given me the opportunity to pursue both avenues, to develop the skills necessary to facilitate the transition from basic science to its applications in clinical medicine.
