Clinical Instructor (Preceptor) Resources

Information for Clinical Facilities

KU’s physical therapy program welcomes contracts with new facilities committed to offering quality experiences on an ongoing basis. Students are most inclined to travel for full-time clinical rotations when free or low-cost housing is available.

To obtain additional information about clinical education partnerships with KU's program, please contact Yvonne Colgrove, PT, Ph.D., director of clinical education.

Clinical Faculty Benefits

Clinical faculty of KU's physical therapy doctoral degree program are invited to continuing education courses sponsored by the KU Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science. Limited travel assistance may be available to clinical faculty for attendance at APTA-sponsored clinical instructor credentialing courses. Clinical faculty may also access KU Medical Center library resources upon request.

Additionally, the Kansas Board of Healing Arts has approved continuing education (CEU) credit for clinical instructors supervising students. One contact hour is awarded for each documented 40 hours of supervision, for up to 3 CEUs per reporting period (100-29-9 #13).

Clinicians interested in joining the program’s clinical faculty should contact Yvonne Colgrove, PT, Ph.D., director of clinical education.
