Ferraro, Kluding, Radel named interim associate deans

Three members of the School of Health Professions faculty have been named as interim associate deans for the school effective March 1, Dean Abiodun Akinwuntan announced Feb. 23
.John Ferraro, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Hearing and Speech, will serve as interim associate dean for faculty practice. Patricia Kluding, Ph.D., interim chair of the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science, will be the interim associate dean for research. Jeff Radel, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy, has been tabbed as the interim associate dean for academic and student affairs.
In his role as interim associate dean, Ferraro will foster the growth of faculty practice within and outside the School of Health Professions and the University of Kansas Medical Center. Specifically, he will provide guidance to the school and dean on faculty practice in regard to clinical integration. Ferraro will also advise the school on the comprehensive support of faculty practice.
As interim associate dean for research, Kluding will work to foster research growth and external funding. She will also advise the school and dean on ways to support faculty scholarship. In addition, Kluding will advise the school on how to recruit and retain quality research faculty.
Radel's role as interim associate dean will be to foster an environment where faculty and students can excel. He will also advise the school and the dean on the comprehensive support of both academic and student affairs. Additionally, Radel will recommend ways to for the school to retain and recruit quality students and faculty.
