Evidence-based research programs are improving physical activity for COPD patients using telehealth and patient-centered care.
Within the University of Kansas respiratory therapy program, we are focusing on the question “What is the impact of a telehealth pulmonary rehabilitation program on improving physical activity in people with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)?”
Our overarching goal is to provide COPD patients access to a sustainable and cost-effective strategy for managing their chronic disease. Another objective of this proposed study is to help increase physical activity in COPD patients while improving health-related quality of life (HRQOL) by using an innovative approach to deliver pulmonary rehabilitation.
This project was funded by the American Association of Respiratory Care’s Vision Grant - Young Investigator Award.
