The Behaviors for Family Health Lab is dedicated to helping people live healthier lives for longer through participation in physical activity and other health behaviors.

Current Research Projects

  1. Development of a sequential multiple assignment randomized trial (SMART) to support success in pediatric obesity treatments. (Funded through NIH KL2TR002367).
  2. Organization and participant needs for a caregiver wellness intervention (CareWell Community).
  3. Evaluation of the effectiveness of The National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) when delivered by U.S. Cooperative Extension staff to adults with prediabetes in rural areas and compare active and passive strategies for participant recruitment (Funded through NIH R01DK132362, PI Gorcyzca).
  4. Effectiveness of the Addition of Yoga to a Behavioral Weight Loss Intervention for Adults with Overweight or Obesity (Funded through NIH R01DK135735, PI Jakicic).
  5. Effectiveness of providing parent weight loss support before moving on to support the child / family unit (Funded through NIH R01 NR019810, MPIs Davis & Befort).

Completed Research Projects

  1. Comparing school-level adoption of a school-based program helping families learn about healthy lifestyles. (Funded through NIH F32DK128982).
  2. Examining child and family-level measures of intervention engagement and intervention outcomes in a pediatric obesity treatment (Funded through NIH F32DK128982).
  3. Examining the feasibility, acceptability, and before/after changes of CareWell, an intervention focused on the wellness of caregivers of an individual with an intellectual or developmental disability. (Funded through the Center for Children’s Healthy Lifestyles & Nutrition pilot award).
