About the Lab
The Behaviors for Family Health Lab conducts research in the lab at KU Medical Center, in local clinics and community settings.
Commonly collected information includes data related to health outcomes, health behaviors, an individual’s demographics and environment.
We often utilize the following equipment in our work:
Physical Activity Assessment
- Zephyr Performance System is a small device worn around the torso (similar to a heart rate monitor) that is capable of collecting date on heart rate, breathing rate, heart rate variability, posture, activity and acceleration and can include GPS capabilities.
Body Composition Assessment
- InBody BWA 2.0 is a portable instrument for body composition. Standard outputs include percentage body fat, skeletal muscle mass, total body water, intracellular water and extracellular water.
