As a Kansas resident, you have the benefit of being eligible for an early-decision application to the program. The early-decision option becomes available at approximately midnight CDT on March 15 and ends on May 15.

Interviews for early decision applicants will generally take place during the first half of July, while other applicants interview in the first half of October.

Requirements

As an early applicant, you must meet all of the standard eligibility requirements plus:

• Proof of Kansas residency. See the full residency requirements at the Office of the Registrar. This is thoroughly verified during the application process. Moving to Kansas for the purpose of education does not qualify students for Kansas residency.
• Completion of all five prerequisite courses by the time of application submission. Explore the program prerequisites.
• Meet the May 15 submission deadline for all application materials

Admission and Interviews

After reviewing all applications received before the deadline, we will invite up to 24 students for interviews, and up to 12 applicants may be admitted into the early-decision program. Those students begin classes the Tuesday after Memorial Day in May of the following year.

If you apply for the early-decision option but are found to be ineligible, we will notify you that your application will be placed on the standard application schedule. Early-decision applicants may have the opportunity to be selected again for an interview in October of that same year.

An interview conducted during the early-decision process will not count against the two-interview limit for nurse anesthesia applicants. However, only one interview for early-decision status is allowed.

The program accepts applications from registered nurses who meet the admission requirements set forth by the Council on Accreditation and the National Board on Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists, the KU Department of Nurse Anesthesia Education and the University of Kansas.
