Applying to the doctorate program in audiology requires two major steps:

1. The primary application is submitted to the national central application service, the Communication Science and Disorders Central Application System, known as CSDCAS. All required application materials must be submitted (and verified by CSDCAS) by January 15. Please note: it can take 4-5 weeks for CSDCAS to verify your transcripts.
2. After completing your CSDCAS application, an email will arrive prompting you to complete the supplementary application for the University of Kansas via the Slate online application platform. This supplementary application and application fee must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Eastern time (10:59 p.m. CST) on January 14.

 Classes for the program begin the following fall semester. 

Application Instructions

It will be helpful to have the following information ready before starting the CSDCAS online application:

1. College course work
   Students must enter all college courses taken in the U.S. into the academic history section of the CSDCAS application including repeated, failed and withdrawn courses. This process may take 1-2 hours to complete.
   • Visit the CSDCAS applicant help center for assistance.
   • Have transcripts ready to refer to while entering required information.
   • For an additional fee, the CSDCAS professional transcript entry service is available for applicants who do not wish to enter their course work manually.
     
     
2. Transcripts
   Official transcripts must be sent directly from the institution's registrar's office to the CSDCAS transcript department. Students may not receive official transcripts and then forward them.

3. TOEFL
   All applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency through the TOEFL testing system.
   
   To submit official TOEFL scores to CSDCAS, visit the ETS website and request scores be sent to CSDCAS using code 1220. It takes approximately 10-12 business days from the date of the request to post an update to the online application. Only one code is needed in CSDCAS for TOEFL score.
   
   
4. References
   A reference provides a professional recommendation on the applicant's behalf. We prefer college instructors provide these recommendations, but past supervisors during employment or volunteer positions are also acceptable. The recommendations may not be obtained from family members, friends, etc.
   
   Applicants will enter the names and contact information (including email addresses) of three individuals into the online application. CSDCAS will then prompt each person to submit a reference letter and the graduate letter of recommendation rubric. Please contact each reference to explain they will receive a message from CSDCAS to complete their recommendation online.
   
   
5. Curriculum vitae or résumé
   Provide a one- or two-page document in PDF format of work and academic history including professional leadership contributions as well as volunteer activities. This will be uploaded with the online application.
   
   
6. Prerequisites
   Using the degree plan as a guide, match all courses in the applicant's undergraduate communication sciences and disorders to the prerequisites provided on screen.
   
   
7. Questionnaire
   Applicants will be prompted to answer questions on the application concerning career goals and interests.
