How to Apply

If you are interested in applying for KU’s master’s degree in health informatics program, follow the steps below. Health care experience is preferred but not required.

Application Deadlines

We have two application deadlines each year, depending on your desired start date.

  • Fall admission applications are due by June 30.
  • Spring admission applications are due by October 31.

We may accept applications after spring and fall semester deadlines until all seats in the program are filled.

Steps to Apply

The application process is entirely online. Before you begin, it’s helpful to gather the following information to make your application process as smooth as possible.

  1. $75 nonrefundable application fee.
  2. Official transcript(s) of all college-level coursework. Transcripts must be sent directly from your college or university to the University of Kansas. Applicants may not provide official transcripts directly. Official transcripts from institutions attended post-baccalaureate are also required.
  3. Updated resume or curriculum vitae describing your academic and professional background. Include information about your education, work experience, clinical leadership, community/organizational involvement, scholarship/research and honors/awards.
  4. Personal statement outlining the applicant's reasons for wanting to pursue graduate education in health informatics, career objectives and any other information that would help the admissions committee get to know the applicant.
  5. Two letters of recommendation, one from a person that can assess the candidate’s academic aptitude and the other professional potential specific to experience and character. Letters are submitted per instructions provided for the online application process. The recommendations may not be obtained from family members, friends, etc.

After an applicant has been admitted, a program may defer an applicant's admission for one year, after which time the applicant must submit a new application.

Student Onboarding

All incoming students are required to complete an online new student onboarding module. This will be distributed via your kumc.edu email account prior to the start of classes.
