The cost of an education at the University of Kansas is very competitive with other top health information management bachelor's degree programs in the U.S. See below for tuition, fees and other financial information, in addition to financial aid and scholarship resources. In addition, the American Health Information Management Association and the Kansas Health Information Management Association offer scholarships and awards specifically for students entering a program in health information management.

Applies to KU degree programs in athletic training, clinical laboratory science, genetic counseling, health information management and respiratory care. Also applies to KU certificate programs in cardiac sonography, diagnostic ultrasound and nuclear medicine technology.

Additional Expenses
The following items are required for students, but are not paid directly to KU; therefore, costs may not be determined by the program.
Students in this on-campus program are required to have a computer that meets the minimum software and hardware requirements in addition to all costs associated with their computer including software, hardware, support, updates and maintenance.
A management internship is required to complete the program, and students are responsible for all costs associated with the internship (expenses vary by location).
Other Potential Costs
- Background check report – includes a one-time fee paid by the student directly to the reporting agency after admission to the program. In addition, a drug screening may be required for students in the program participating at clinical sites. See details.
- Supplies, hardcopy and online textbooks: estimated to be $1,500 per semester.
- AHIMA membership: $49.00 per year.
- Proof of health insurance is required prior to entering the program.
- Room and board, on-campus parking, transportation and other needs.

To complete the FAFSA, visit the FAFSA application site and provide the school code for the University of Kansas: 001948.
Students should not wait to be accepted into an academic program to begin the financial aid process. Even if the application deadline for the intended program is later in the year, students are strongly encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Financial Aid (FAFSA) by the March 1 priority deadline.
Some financial aid grants and low-interest loans have limited funding. After the priority deadline, any remaining financial aid will be awarded as available.
Even if financial aid will not be requested, students are encouraged to file the FAFSA annually. The FAFSA enables the school to consider all scholarship funds available. The FAFSA must be completed annually.
The total financial aid award package, including scholarships, loans or need-based aid, cannot be finalized until the student's application materials and fee have been received and admission to KU has been completed.
