Currently recruiting participants. Sign up.

This pilot study, funded by the Kansas Center for Metabolism and Obesity Research Center for Biomedical Research Excellence, will explore how obesity and diet during pregnancy impact a mother’s metabolism and nervous system. Pregnant women in the study will wear Garmin wristwatches that track their heart rate. The study team will also gather information about metabolism and nutrition from blood draws and questionnaires.

DHA Food Frequency Questionnaire in Kansas WIC (Women, Infants, Children)

July 2023-present.

In partnership with Kansas WIC (a program that supports low-income pregnant women, new mothers, and children), this study is looking at how much DHA these women are getting through their diet. The goal is to find out if they are consuming enough DHA and to identify groups of women who might need extra help to get the nutrients they need during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

DHA Food Frequency Questionnaire at KU Medical Center

November 2021-present.

This study, done with the University of Kansas Health System, is also focused on how much DHA pregnant women are consuming. The researchers are collecting information to see if the women are getting enough DHA and how it may affect birth outcomes (like the health of the baby). The goal is to help women get the right amount of DHA during pregnancy.
