Professional Background

Shaweta Babbar, MBBS, is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Dr. Babbar joined the faculty in 2021 after serving as an addiction psychiatrist for Kaiser Permanente in Colorado. She also formerly was an assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and medical team lead of opioid treatment services and addiction recovery services at Denver Health Medical Center.

After earning her medical degree from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India, Dr. Babbar completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center and a fellowship in addiction psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine.

Her clinical interests include complementary and alternative medicine in relation to addictions.

Dr. Babbar is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, National Acupuncture Detoxification Association and the Kansas Psychiatric Society.
