Professional Background

Susan Andersen, MS, RN, CNE is the Director of Assessment, Evaluation, and Quality Improvement at the University of Kansas School of Nursing. In 2025, she was appointed to the rank of Assistant Professor of Education. She is an experienced nursing program administrator with expertise in program assessment and curricular design. As a nurse educator, she has taught in didactic, clinical, and simulation settings at both the baccalaureate and associate degree levels. She earned the Certified Nurse Educator® (CNE) credential in 2020. Her clinical background includes pediatrics, community health, and medical-surgical nursing.

She is the Junior Author for Alfaro’s Clinical Judgment in Nursing, (8th ed; Ignatavicius, D. and Andersen, S., 2025). Additionally, she contributed as a chapter author to Certified Nurse Educator® (CNE) and Certified Nurse Educator Novice ® (CNE®n) Exam Prep (Ignatavicius, D., Ed., 2023). She is a national presenter on nursing curriculum revision and simulation and has contributed to several publications.
