Shelby Weber, Ph.D., is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Weber earned her bachelor and doctoral degree from Idaho State University. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at University of Iowa Health Care where she began her specialty in perinatal mental health and provided psychotherapy in the NICU, the Maternal Substance Use Disorder clinic, and Women’s Wellness outpatient clinic.
Dr. Weber moved to the Kansas City area in 2024 to continue her specialty in women’s and perinatal mental health while primarily embedded in the OB/GYN at KU. As a licensed clinical psychologist, she works with women, men, and couples managing psychiatric distress related to the perinatal period, which may include grief and loss, infertility, reproductive trauma, PTSD, and antenatal/postpartum anxiety and mood disorders. She also serves as the psychology/therapist consultant for the state’s perinatal access line Kansas Connecting Communities. Her clinical and research interests broadly include trauma-informed care among vulnerable and underserved populations and the mechanisms by which women in the perinatal period cope with distress.
