Professional Background
Ryan Lay, M.D., is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He joined the faculty in 2022 after completing a year-long epilepsy fellowship at KU Medical Center.
Dr. Lay finished his neurology residency at the KU School of Medicine, where he spent one year as co-chief resident. He earned a medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Iowa State University.
Dr. Lay’s clinical interests extend to epilepsy and migraine, while his research interests include mechanisms of epileptogenesis, epilepsy surgery and epilepsy monitoring unit quality improvement. His professional affiliations are the American Academy of Neurology and the American Epilepsy Society. Away from work, he enjoys rock climbing, hiking, traveling and audiobooks.
