Professional Background
Regina (Gina) H. Johnson, MS, RN, is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas School of Nursing since 2013. She teaches primarily in undergraduate programs. She also participates in inter-professional, simulation, and experiential learning activities on the KUMC campus. She is an active participant on KUSON committees: Concept Oversight, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and Curriculum Transformation.
She is published in several peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Nursing Education and Public Health Nursing. She has participated in peer-reviewed podium and poster presentations related to concept-based curriculum, teaching community/public/population health at a BSN level, and has disseminated research related to faculty and public health nurses' knowledge, skill, application and attitudes regarding the Quad Council Competencies for Community/Public Health Nursing.
Nationally, Regina is a member and education committee member of the Association of Community Health Nursing Educators (ACHNE), the Association of Public Health Nurses, the American Public Health Association, and the Kansas Public Health Association. She participated in the AACN toolkit work group committee for Domain 3: Population Health.
Locally, she participates in the Kansas Public Health Workforce Development Council.

Overview
Regina's research interest includes faculty and public health nurses' knowledge, skill, and application of the Quad Council Competencies and a qualitative descriptive study on public health nurses' experiences working in state and local health departments.
